Friday 16th to Sunday 25th June 2017

Nick Brooke Ltd presents an Exeter Northcott Theatre Production. E. Nesbit’s classic novel The Railway Children is brought thrillingly to life in a stunning new stage production. 

Complete with beautiful period costumes and ingenious designs, this new production promises an uplifting theatrical experience for all ages, packed with intrigue, adventure, joy and jubilation.

 

Monday 26th to Wednesday 28th June 2017

Rock N Roll Productions present All Or Nothing, based on the life and music of the Small Faces. In 1964, a new phenomenon exploded onto the dingy British streets. It was Mod.

The Small Faces encapsulated all that is Mod, a unique blend of taste and testosterone, neat, clothes obsessed and street-wise.  But these cult sophisticates shared another passion, their dedication to Rhythm ‘n’ Blues.

Thursday 29th June 2017

Exeter Northcott Theatre is delighted to welcome Ballet Central to Exeter for its debut visit, under the auspices of its new artistic director Christopher Marney.

Comprised of final year students from the Central School of Ballet, the annual graduate tours have been a professional springboard for hundreds of dancers for over 30 years.

Friday 30th June 2017

12th UK Taiko Festival, A Feast of Taiko. This concert features the excitement and talent of youth taiko groups from Devon, the UK and beyond.

Featured groups include Gyoko Youth Taiko, who recently delighted a packed Royal Albert Hall in London, and this year’s headliners, The Dublin Taiko Group, from Dublin, Ohio, USA.

 

Saturday 1st July 2017 - 12 pm

12th UK Taiko Festival, Taiko Beats. Taiko is more than just drumming, and there are many different styles of taiko to enjoy.

This concert features 10 different groups, each playing for no more than 10 minutes, making for a varied, action-packed, inspirational taiko show.

Saturday 1st July 2017 - 7.30 pm

12th UK Taiko Festival, Pulse & Roll. Kagemusha Taiko present an exhilarating, uplifting new show which sees the group joined from Japan by former Kodo member, Shogo Yoshii , and from USA by one of the world’s leading taiko performers, Shoji Kameda.

Creative Cow presents, Our Man in Havana, by Graham Greene. From the company who brought you Travels With My Aunt and A Christmas Carol and thrillingly adapted by Clive Francis, this uproarious farce is filleted to perfection from Graham Greene’s hilarious, subversive and ever popular novel.

Thursday 20th to Sunday 30th July 2017

The Exeter Northcott Theatre Graduate Company present, The Comedy of Errors - Exeter. Open Air in Rougemont Gardens, Castle Street, Exeter, EX4 3UP. By William Shakespeare, directed by Poppy Burton-Morgan, design by Jean Chan, music by Matt Devereaux. Marrying a colourful circus-infused physicality with Shakespeare’s linguistic acrobatics and live music, this is a fast paced and joyous new outdoor staging of Shakespeare’s farce of mistaken identity. 

This is an outdoor event with no formal seating so please bring chairs, blankets, cushions and picnic mats.

Supported by Exeter Northcott Theatre alumnus John Nettles and by The Foyle Foundation.

Tall Stories present, The Gruffalo

A mouse took a stroll through the deep dark wood…

Join Mouse on a daring adventure through the deep, dark wood in Tall Stories’ magical, musical adaptation of the classic picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. 

Songs, laughs and scary fun for children aged 3 and up and their grown-ups, in the much-loved show that’s toured Britain and the world!

 

Tuesday 3rd to Saturday 7th October 2017

The Original Theatre Company presents, from the hand of Frederick Knott, author of Dial M Murder, and the producers behind Night Must Fall and Birdsong, a major revival of the classic, edge of your seat, thriller Wait Until Dark.

Wait Until Dark, made into a film starring Audrey Hepburn in 1967, is often ranked as one of the top 100 scariest films of all time and this exciting new production reclaims it for the stage.

A star cast includes Jack Ellis (Prime Suspect & Bad Girls), Karina Jones and Oliver Mellor (Coronation Street).

 

Tuesday 10th to Sunday 15th October 2017

Simon Friend and Kenny Wax Family Entertainment present The New Vic Theatre production in association with The Royal Exchange Theatre Manchester, Around the World in 80 Days, by Jules Verne and adapted by Laura Eason. 

Theresa Heskins’ celebrated production comes to the Northcott as part of a major six month UK tour. A hugely talented cast of 8 play over 125 characters in this imaginative, high-spirited escapade including six trains, five boats, four fights, three dances, two circus acts and an elephant!

 

Monday 23rd to Friday 27th October 2017 

Selladoor Productions and Mercury Theatre Colchester present, Spamalot.

Winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best New Musical the hilarious Spamalot was written by Python legend Eric Idle, with a fantastic score co-written by John DuPrez including Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.

Produced by the award winning Selladoor Productions – producers of Footloose, American Idiot, Avenue Q and Little Shop of Horrors and Mercury Theatre Colchester, this brand new UK tour of Spamalot will have audiences rolling in the aisles.

English Touring Opera is proud to present the first performance in the UK of the 1744 version of Dardanus, Rameau’s undoubted masterpiece.

Jupiter’s son Dardanus is in love with Iphise, the daughter of his enemy Teucer – a love that, though reciprocated, is forbidden. So begins a ravishing tale of love in war, containing some of the composer’s finest music including the stunning aria “Lieux funestes”.

Giulio Cesare Part I: The Death of Pompey

Giulio Cesare is Handel’s most celebrated opera: a thrilling story of passion and revenge set to one of the composer’s most beautiful scores. In this new production we are presenting the opera in full, divided in two parts on consecutive nights.

Don’t miss this exhilaratingly epic drama, featuring our partner baroque orchestra The Old Street Band and a first-rate cast including Christopher Ainslie in the title role, Soraya Mafi as Cleopatra and Kitty Whately as Sesto.

Soho Theatre and Tim Whitehead present, The Vaudevillians: Jinkx Monsoon & Major Scales.

After selling out an often-extended Off-Broadway run, an Australian tour and a run at London’s Soho Theatre, RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Jinkx Monsoon is going on tour with The Vaudevillians, a bawdy, rowdy musical comedy co-starring composer and musician Major Scales.
