Take a step back in time
Discover the history of The Devon Hotel...
Percy Brend bought the Devon 'Motel' in 1975 and set about upgrading the motel and the Devon Hotel was launched.
In 1997, the first function suite was added as well as Carriages Restaurant in the original Georgian part of the building. This gave the hotel a new lease of life and it was around this time that the hotel set out to have the finest year-round hanging baskets in Exeter, a tradition that continues today.
The Latest Chapter
2015 saw the latest chapter in the hotel’s history, with a £1.5 million upgrade which involved a refurbished exterior and the addition of 20 brand new executive bedrooms and a fitness suite. The hotel continues to evolve, combining the historic charm of its Georgian manor house with the very latest developments such as charging points for electric vehicles.
Over the last 15 years, The Devon Hotel has become a popular venue for weddings, functions and dinner dances, becoming loved as a hotel at the very heart of the Exeter community.
